Ortygia, Sicily 2015
Cartier-Bresson suggested that you find a great background and wait for the picture to arrive. I’ve tried that and I do believe that if you wait long enough, the picture will arrive. My problem is the waiting. My little voice tells me that while I’m waiting, wonderful things are happening elsewhere. Just as soon as I pack up my gear though, here comes my photo opportunity. I’m thinking that next time, I’ll get a huge cup of coffee to keep me in one place for a while. I just hope I’m not sipping when I should be shooting.
I wasn’t going to post these shots because of the tourists in the background. But today, I looked at another photographer’s work and I see cars and people in the background. But her focal point was such that I didn’t mind the clutter. So here I go!
I love the girl in the red dress. Her beautiful face looks somewhat distraught. Does she see her old boyfriend, the one whom she still loves, with another woman? Oh. That would be so Italian!
I used Lucis Pro 6 on these shots. The blurry, infrared look on the top photo is due to the smoothing filter. I think it works for this shot.
