Finding the Viewpoint

Cactus Landscape in Arizona desert

Hands Up!

Arizona, U.S.A. 2009

Another shot of the Saguaro National Park near Tucson. I tried to find attractive groupings of the cactus. This one reminds me of Gumby saying, “O NO!, or else a bandit telling a group of greenhorns to “Stick ’em up.”

As I wrote yesterday, the cactus needles were practically jumping off the cactus into my clothing. They were so sharp they penetrated my jeans and trying to get them out sometimes worked them deeper into my skin. Ouch! So, I didn’t go as close as I might have, I didn’t work the shot as I might have. My daughter was with me and she was getting worm’s eye views. I knew I should do the same but I didn’t. She thought of it first and I hated to copy her, even though worm’s eye views are free for the taking. Can you tell I’m rather a stiff-necked person?

There was no sunset even though we were in the park near closing time. This photo is ‘flat’ as we photographers say. I increased the contrast and saturation and gave the pic a sloppy border.Anything to make it better. I’ve never been fond of it, but maybe someone out there on the ‘internets’ will like it. It might just remind them of home and that’s a good thing.
