early morning landscape of Istanbul's Yeni Jami

Across the Bosphorus

Early morning in Istanbul 2009

Yeni Jami, which means ‘new mosque’, was begun in the late 1500’s. It sits on the bank of the Bosphorous near the Galata bridge. We wished for an old fishing boat to sail slowly by, but saw only speeding motorboats. Finally, I asked a Simit salesman to push his cart into my ‘frame’ and he did. I’ll show that another day.

Today, I’m rushed. This is brief,  but I have made a promise to myself that I’ll blog every day when I am home.

I love the fresh early morning glow of this photo. Early mornings are special. They are filled with promise. I feel that promise here at home when I walk down my drive to get the paper. The gift of another day to make of it what we will.
