In summer the sun fills my kitchen with a glorious golden light. I notice things like light now. I didn’t before learning photography. Seeing light, color, shadow is a consequence of trying to get a good photograph.
One day last summer, I noticed these tomatoes on my countertop. The smooth shape, the glowing color, the reflection…I had to run and get my camera.
I shot the pears using HDR technique. I’d just read about HDR and didn’t realize that you need a contrasty situation to make full use of the technique. It does lend a graphic look to my pears, though. Now, after several years have passed, I feel it is good enough to show you.
To keep honing your photographic skills, you should photograph daily or at least weekly. Do I do that? No. I’m like you. I am busy doing mundane chores and don’t want to go out looking for subjects. Unlike many photographers, I love Photoshop and I spend a lot of time at my computer. It’s handy to run in and work on a photo while I wait for Sunday’s lasagna to heat up.
But, I do think about it!!!
Those pears! They definitely have an late 19th or early 20th century feel about them. I really like them. They’re ready to eat. J.
Thanks for being such a faithful visitor, Jerry. I appreciate it.
