I’m doing the “365” project. I guess that’s what it is called when you take a photo a day for a year. It didn’t take me long to break the first and the only rule of the project, that is, to take a photo every day. For one, I didn’t begin until late January. And for another, while I may take more than one pic on some days, on others I don’t take any. Mea Culpa.
Here we have my first pic of the year: “Cowboy at Costco”. I hurled my ’89 Bronco into the parking lot and grabbed the shot through the dirt spattered windshield. This guy was a senior citizen, but he was moving and I was lucky to get one shot.
Now, some may be content to show their pics without any Photoshop touches. Me, I’m not. I love Photoshop. And I believe in only showing stuff I consider good or maybe just good enough. That demonstrates that I know the difference between the good and the bad: a prime requisite for a photographer, to paraphrase Jay Maisel.
So, when I got home, I fixed this thing.
Hi Rosemary,
Interesting approach, interesting in a very positive way.
I actually came here because I saw one of your photos on Tewfic El-Sawy’s The Travel Photographer website/blog and was curious. This is the first of your pictures I looked at and as I more or less stepped through the door, I just wanted to say Hello and thank you for the invitation to browse and get inspired.
I will be in Kerala soon but am not participating in Tewfic’s workshop there. I don’t think I am ready yet and it is also a bit out of my budget range for the time being.
Well, enough said. I am curious and excited to explore you blog and your photography now.
Thanks again and best wishes from Istanbul where I currently am.
Walter
Hi, Walter.
Thanks for your email. I wanted to check out your flickr page before responding. I don’t know why you would say you aren’t ready for Tewfic’s tour. Maybe the vimeo aspect? You’re definitely ready as a photographer. Are you living in Istanbul? I envy you exploring the city. Let me know when you post some pix on Flickr.
I’m happy that one of my pix on Tewfic’s site inspired you to go to my blog.
Best wishes to you as well.
Rosemary
Hello Rosemary,
I was just thinking about you and decided to Google your name. Lo and behold, you have a blog. We used to board our horses together and the last time I saw you was at your house. You were selling all things Moroccan. I bought a rug from you. My sister Cris and I are still riding. I had to put Cargo down a few years ago and now have a new horse, 10 year-old breeding stock paint gelding. We are still at the ranch on Foothill. Hope you are doing well. Are you still riding? Love your photographs.
Pam
Pam! I’m so happy you emailed. I have often thought of you and Cris and our days at Solana Verde and Stetters. I’ll send you a private email.
Best,
Rosemary
