Driving home after my shoot at the Costco parking lot, I spotted my ‘real’shot for the day: a Mexican guy manning a refreshment stand. Whipping off the road, I leaped from the car and ran across the busy highway, camera in hand. I wondered if he would think I was from Immigration. “Muy Hermosa!” I cried, pointing at his stand. “Yes.” He gave a tentative nod. His stand, topped by a colorful umbrella, was a thing of beauty to me. It was perfect. (Some photographers would kill for a red umbrella in their photos.) I fired away hoping that this would be the first of many serendipitous photos to come.
