Delhi, India 2009
One of India’s busiest markets, Chandni Chowk is across the street from the Jama Mosque, India’s largest. We crossed into the market after visiting the mosque but the area was filled with shops selling steel rods or parts for God-knows-what mechanical devices. Grease and soot covered men hovered over barrels and hammers and piles of galvanized pipes. Not so interesting.
The man going home in a pedicab had managed to find a mirror. He gave me a smile when he saw me photograph him. If you want to photograph friendly people, go to India.
Another very interesting picture color-wise.
I’m constantly amazed that you can do this day after day. Today it occurred to me that you could possible sit down and do several of these at one time thus avoiding the necessity of sitting down once a day no matter what. Even so, I still think it’s remarkable. Jerry
Jerry! What else do I have to do with my time? I’m down here at my computer for several hours every day. It’s my hobby! It is satisfying in so many ways…I remember the day that I took the photo, the interaction I had with the person and I enjoy using the “electronic darkroom”. It’s fun to manipulate the photo, to make ‘the vision’ come true.
Whenever I see a person who is unhappy with their life, I say to myself, “They need Photoshop.”
