Practice makes perfect. That’s why my friend, Judi, and I drove down to the zoo on Monday. My goal was to get some perfectly sharp shots. Sharp means having the key element of your photo in focus.

Having good focus doesn’t mean your photo is interesting. My African Crowned Crane was in good focus…how could it not be? he stood in bright sun and hardly moved. For me he needed to be more colorful. Voila!

I have never photographed fish before but I couldn’t resist this fellow’s polka dot tail. And he reminded me of an episode in “The Sopranos”.

We spent quite a bit of time photographing the Flamingoes. I’ve done that before and I love them, but I didn’t get any show-stopper shots, as they say. Here is one that makes me think of Florida circa 1945.
