Making a ‘painting’ from a photograph

An Edward Hopper wanna-be

Here’s a sample of what I like to do with a photo of an ordinary subject. I noticed this man when I was on a river cruise in Northern Russia. I liked the way the evening light emphasized his strong features. There is a sense of isolation because he sits alone in front of a table with a serving for one. This solitary feeling in a restaurant setting reminded me of an Edward Hopper painting.

I have to admit that I like the photo without any enhancing, but I wanted to try to emphasize the Edward Hopper look.

I used Topaz Simplify. www.topazlabs.com to get this effect.
