woman in red kerchief carrying fresh baked bread in market in Kazakhstan

Baker

Shymkent, Kazakhstan 2016

I’ve said before that I love to shoot in a market despite the fact it’s not a piece of cake photographically speaking. Often the light is dim, people are rushing about blocking your view to the “perfect” shot and maybe this is the hundredth market you’ve visited and you’re a bit jaded.

Our group was listening to our leader as this woman walked by with her tray of freshly baked bread. I ran after her and got one shot, hoping my auto focus would be able to focus in a nano-second. I glanced at my monitor and thought I’d been successful. (My vision isn’t what it used to be.) When I got home, I saw that the focus was off badly.

I used Topaz Impressions 2 as well as Snap Art 4 to rescue my Kazakh baker. Not only do I like the composition but reds and yellows always brighten my mood. Jim Zuckerman, (www.jimzuckerman.com) whom I admire, says that you can be a photo-journalist and/or a photo artist. Here, I tried for the artist aspect.
