I wanted to show you three photos that we took in this colonnade, but sometimes WordPress won’t co-operate. So, it’ll be one a day.
Win Kyaw Zan, our tour leader in Burma, set these shots up for us. (http://asiaphototravel.com/) Win was full of ideas, many no doubt learned from his experience with America’s top photographers. We benefited from this and got dramatic shots like this.
I never pose people. I didn’t take any classes that required posing. But as the days went on doing this type of shoot with Win, I began to get my own ideas. In the future, I think I won’t be so reluctant to pose my subject…providing that I can speak their language..another problem for a traveling photographer.
The young monks were very co-operative. I think they must have gotten the day off from studies or chores. They were quiet, well-behaved and obedient. They spoke to each other is soft tones. I don’t remember hearing their voices.
There are about 400,000 monks in Burma. The total population is 48 million. Although we never stopped being attracted to the monks and nuns as subjects for our photos, we became picky about just which monk we photographed.
