Alleppy Rice Canal

A small boat used for tours lies at anchor in a rice canal near Alleppy in southern India. Small homes line the spits of land between the rice paddies and the palm lined canals that criss-cross them. We floated past at a desultory pace. Lying on cushions under a canopy on our luxurious converted rice boat, we savored the balmy air and reveled in being in paradise.
