Novodevichy Convent

Moscow, 2009

Something I read recently: When you shoot a reflection, the reflection must be as sharp as the object that is reflected. Yikes! When I read that, I wondered if any of my reflection shots met that standard. But, here I did. And do you know why? When I shoot a landscape, I always try for a small aperture, at least F16 if not smaller. That will take care of the sharpness problem.

Another note: If you frame your subject with tree branches, etc. Those need to be sharp as well. Take your time, use a tripod if possible. Take more than one shot. Take more than one angle. And while you are here at the monastery, a prayer won’t do any harm.
