I’m always happy when I look through my old shots and see “gold”. Sometimes it takes some work in Photoshop to bring out the gold but I enjoy every minute of it. Memories come to mind of my days with Vaughn Hadenfeldt: following Vaughn’s mile-eating stride through the canyons of Cedar Mesa, stopping to photograph iconic sites of the Anasazi, and towards the afternoon, sitting on a rock while Vaughn made me a delicious sandwich. Oh! Priceless!
In my first year of photography class, our instructor emphasized this type of photography, always black and white, of course,…and so did all the arty photo magazines. Black and white does have a timelessness. As Mr. Abtey, one of my instructors, might say, ” I could sit and look at this for hours.”
