Monks carrying their begging bowls are accompanied by village women going to market as another day begins in Burma. The small bridge passes over farm lands irrigated with water from the Irrawaddy River.
Burma is a fertile land and was once the largest rice exporter in the world. That was a hundred years ago. Perhaps even now they could be a rice exporter, but their government, with its ever encroaching rules and regulations, has throttled prosperity. The bigger the government, the smaller the people as we say. The Burmese people are praying for relief from their situation, but it will be impossible for them to wrest power from the generals who control the country.
I know my blogs are emphasizing Burma. It’s because it was my latest trip and I am still working on my photos. I’ll try to vary my photos…honestly, I will.
