reflection of camels in a lake near Merzouga, Morocco

The Land of the Fata Morgana

Morocco, 2009

After heavy rains, a lake forms near the village of Merzouga. Fresh green plants sprout and camels spend their days and nights foraging on, what must be to them, a delicacy.

I’d visited Merzouga many times. I used to help a Berber family with their tourist business. In all those times, I’d never come across this sight. It’s odd because that very year I saw a similar camel reflection in India.
