Life on the Armenian Road

herd of cattle, sheep and horses on the move to Azerbaijan border

Heading toward Azerbaijan

Armenia 2016

It was fall when I visited the Caucasus. And a common sight were the huge herds of sheep and other livestock moving down the center of a modern highway. This was a situation where a drone would get you the best shot.  I was thrilled to see these huge herds but sadly to say, I’m not happy with my pics. This one was shot after the herd passed us and it is one of my best. I’m always hopeful and maybe I’ll find another shot of the sheep approaching. I’ll show you if I do.

Armenia, man on horseback herds livestock

This man seemed to be the boss. But he forgot all about his herd when he saw the beautiful Armenian girl who was our guide. Here he tries to charm her and maybe thought he had succeeded but she was friendly to everyone and I’m sure she forgot about him as soon as we got in our vehicle.

To be honest, the herds were not heading to Azerbaijan, but they were heading in that direction. The border between Armenia and Azerbaijan is closed.
