Burma 2011
I don’t remember the name of this monastery, but I do remember that I had a very hard time getting the shot. It was very dark and, for me, hard to focus. I used my tripod and my remote shutter cable but if you haven’t focused properly, what good does that do?
The boy sitting in the chair had presence. His beautiful face lit up with intelligence and sweetness. The camera caught it all. I have some closeups of him and he looks like an angel. The other boys were regular boys, fidgety, joking, distracted, unable or unwilling to follow instructions without being told several times.
The heat was oppressive. I didn’t notice while I was trying to focus or compose, but when I was finished, I was wringing wet. I had mixed emotions about these photo shoots.
