When I saw the hillsides covered with people huddled into their shawls, reading their prayerbooks, kneeling and blessing themselves, I said a prayer of thanks myself. Just to see this was heart lifting.
The stone church was too small to accommodate more than a hundred worshipers. The walkway to the church and the surrounding area was filled with people listening to the mass over a loudspeaker.
