Khiva Horseman

Khiva Uzbekistan 2012

Khiva isn’t a very large city. Torie and I walked the alleys and squares looking for photos and, in Torie’s case, artisanal handicrafts. Uzbek music drifted from one particular shop and it must have had a magical power because each time we heard it, we would enter the shop unaware that we had examined the merchandise several times before.   Finally, we settled down in an open plaza to await a puppet show. It was then we spied this man on his horse.  Wait. That is key to getting good photographs.

There is something about this man’s expression, isn’t there? I get the impression that to him his puppets are alive.

Hi, Joao. Thanks for checking my site. I checked yours, too. Great ideas for travel and beautiful photos. Since you mentioned Morocco, I looked at your Moroccan page…Merzouga has changed completely since I first visited there 20 years ago. Good Travels!!
