Grocery Store Orchids

I first heard about orchids when my high school girl friends would speak dreamily of receiving an orchid corsage from their prom date. That corsage meant that the boy had asked the girl to “go steady”. And back in the late 50’s going steady came right before being engaged and being engaged came right before the ultimate dream of getting married. After that it was game over.
I bought these orchids at the grocery. In reality, they are white with dabs of yellow and maybe purple. “English colors” as an Indian woman called them. I’m with her. I like strong colors and I enhanced my flowers with them.
