Fes, Morocco 2009
One of the many enjoyable pastimes when staying in a Moroccan city is to sit on the rooftop of a riad (an old home made into a bed and breakfast) with your camera and take advantage of the bird’s-eye view.
My daughter and I stayed in Fes for a few days when I last visited Morocco. This was the view from the roof terrace. Late in the evening, we could see families preparing and eating dinner on their rooftops, we could hear the call to prayer from the many mosques but really there wasn’t that much activity. I figured, from the number of satellite dishes sprouting from every house, that they were indoors glued to the latest Egyptian soap opera.
