Lake Chamo, near Arba Minch, Ethiopia 2013
Something I didn’t know before I went to Ethiopia: the lakes are filled with crocodiles… I wasn’t keen on photographing those reptiles and the other women took that to mean that I was afraid. As long as I was in the boat and the crocodiles were out of the boat I was fine! But I didn’t take more than one of two photos of them. They just aren’t that interesting to me.
I did like the pelicans and other water fowl. Our boat was small and our “captain” was constantly maneuvering it causing it to dip and bob. The thing to do in that situation is to change the image stabilizer to ‘active’ to compensate for the movement of the boat. Guess what? I forgot. And now I have a lot of un-sharp pics. But, the good news is that you only need one good one.
