The light was perfect. The setting sun’s golden rays lit the coats of the horses tethered in a back street. There were about eight of them, lined up facing the wall. All were white with pale eyes. They worked as cart horses used to pull effigies in religious parades. The owners kept them well groomed. Well-fed, not so much.
