Elephants Working

Elephant logging in Thailand

At the Elephant Camp

 Chaing Mai, Thailand.

There are several elephant camps near Chaing Mai. You can spend your whole vacation at some of them, learning about the elephants, riding them, and washing them in the river. That does sound like fun.

I just spent a morning at this elephant camp. This was a show much like the shows at Sea World where the mahouts put the elephants through their paces. The above photo is of a baby elephant. He has chains on his legs whereas the older elephants didn’t. Notice his long eyelashes!

How It's Done

This elephant is older. He has no chains on his legs and he has a good sized tusk. The elephants seemed to be well treated. I’m sure the men who worked with the elephants loved their job.  I would.

I used Alien Skin’s Exposure 4 to get the old fashioned look on the first photo. It is new and is fun to experiment with. There are thousands of combinations, if not millions, to make your photo into what you want it to be.
