Buildings by the railroad tracks gleam in the noontime sun. They looked well-maintained and perhaps are still in use. Once, a long time ago, maybe when I was a girl, freight trains stopped to load and off-load goods every day. Once, perhaps, the buildings meant prosperity for the town.
A cypress swamp near Georgetown, SC. Even at noon, the sun doesn’t penetrate the thick vegetation. Swamps are a place for hunters, fishermen, and those on the run.
