Burmese Marionettes

Marionettes dangle in a shop on Inle Lake Burma

Marionettes in Shadow

Inle Lake, Burma 2011

Sometimes I could kick myself for being so half-hearted when I am shooting. Here I was in a small shop on Inle Lake.  We had gone there to photograph the Padaung women who ran the shop. They had these marionettes in a cabinet and I shot them carelessly just before I got into the boat to depart. Sort of an “Oh, might as well.” sort of shot.

Now years later, I have some ideas for the marionettes, but a half-hearted shot never works. So I added a purple filter that I made from some of my texture shots. It lends an aura that I like, so here it is.

Moral: Do your best with every shot. You won’t be sorry.
