Bird's eye view of Romanian villages with churches

Unspoiled Romania

Romania, Sibiu District, 2012

Daniel Gheorghita, (www.covinnus.com) and I stood on a hillside just after dawn to photograph this lovely scene. I don’t know if it is two villages that have grown together or if there were two churches in one village. Most likely it is the latter as the Saxons were Protestant and the Romanians Orthodox. No matter, the villages and the churches form a reverse ‘C’ shape. It’s what makes this photo pleasing to the eye.

We had parked in the village and visited with a farmer as he fed his flock of sheep. He raised the sheep for meat and burned the wool. I can’t get over that! Look at all that lovely wool.
