Bewildered

statue of Buddha with jeweled background

Grand Palace

Bangkok, Thailand 2007

I’ve moaned to  you before about the difficult time I had finding a viewpoint at Bangkok’s Grand Palace. Gilded, bejeweled temples, statues, and pagodas fill the park-like area.  It’s so full of beauty that there is nowhere to look…know what I mean?

I tried juxtaposing statues and pagodas and statues and temples. These were my best efforts but you only need one shot!  I visited the Grand Palace twice and I still felt overwhelmed on the second visit.

This photo is of a Buddha sitting before a tiled temple wall. To make it a bit different, I elongated it in Photoshop with Free Transform and changed the colors just a bit. This gives a futuristic look and Buddha becomes more important than the beautiful tiles.  He seems to be rising on a celestial elevator!
