Ghana 2001
We were returning to Lome from Mali. We zigzagged through Ghana and Togo visiting different tribes. On our way we met some young Bassari men in northern Ghana who were happy to demonstrate the Bassari tradition as horsemen. Few tribes in Africa own horses and the Bassari are proud of their horses.
This man treated his horse well but some of the others were sadists. They were not horsemen in any sense of the word.
